SILICONE SLEEVINGS
Silicone sleevings are extruded from a
high-quality silicone elastomer and hot-air cured in order to
provide optimal properties.
Owing to their chemical and physical properties
they are suitable for a wide range of applications. In
comparison with other elastomers these sleevings practically
preserve their properties in the temperature range from ?60°C to
+250°C, especially electrical properties, therefore they are
indispensable as insulation material in the electrical
engineering and electronics.
Silicone sleevings are resistant to weather
influences (ozone, UV, corrosion), ageing and are
physiologically harmless (special elastomers). They are only
slightly affected by weak acids, alkali, salts, oxidants and
vegetable oils. There are different types of silicone rubber
available, which depends on the purpose, for which sleevings
will be used.
RANGE OF APPLICATION
Sleevings are used for insulation of wire and
braided conductors in the electronics, electrical machines and
devices and in the industry of illuminants, particularly for
high-frequency applications and higher operating temperatures.
Should it be difficult to apply a sleeving on longer wire ends,
we recommend using an agent for reducing friction such as talcum
powder. As sleevings are highly stretchable, they can be easily
pulled over by means of increased air pressure.
Since these sleevings are applied in the food
industry, the industry of household appliances and the medicine
(e.g. inhalators) too, the material should be thermally treated
and absolutely irreproachable as well as resistant to mildew and
bacteria. Silicone sleevings may be sterilized in hot air or hot
steam up to 140°C; the procedure may be repeated. The
food-approved sleevings are not to be talced.
DIMENSIONS
Sleevings with the exception of insulating
sleevings are manufactured from internal diameter of 0.3 mm to
external diameter of 30 mm, with custom-made wall thickness.
Insulation sleevings are manufactured in
accordance with the standard IEC 60684-3-121/124 of internal
diameters, wall thickness and tolerances as follows :

COLOURS
Sleevings are manufactured in black and
translucent colour, other colours on order.
DELIVERY FORM
Sleevings are delivered on rolls in lengths of
either 25, 50 or 100 m; sleevings of larger dia (over F12
mm) are supplied by agreement.
Thick-walled sleevings can be supplied cut in lengths from 1 mm
on.
